Ability Hearing & Balance is a 100% independent Tasmanian-owned audiology clinic providing comprehensive hearing and balance services across Hobart, Kingston, Rosny Park, Glenorchy, Launceston and Burnie. As an independent practice, our recommendations are always patient-led and based on clinical need, not sales targets or manufacturer ownership. We offer access to all leading hearing aid brands and are committed to transparent, ethical and evidence-based care. Our services include adult diagnostic hearing assessments, paediatric hearing testing, auditory processing evaluations, tinnitus assessment and management, vestibular and dizziness testing, earwax microsuction, hearing aid fittings and rehabilitation, as well as cochlear implant candidacy assessments. We support patients with hearing loss, tinnitus, balance concerns, communication difficulties, educational challenges and long-term hearing health needs. Our team includes experienced audiologists and emerging clinicians who value thorough testing, clear communication and personalised treatment pathways. We work closely with GPs, ENTs, neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists and schools to support coordinated care for both adults and children. Ability Hearing & Balance is founded on the belief that Tasmanians deserve world-class audiology delivered locally, with integrity, compassion and clinical excellence. We take the time to understand each patient’s goals, lifestyle and concerns, offering individualised solutions that are practical, effective and grounded in best-practice audiology.
Nick Modrovich is the Founder and Director of Audiology at Ability Hearing & Balance and has more than 25 years of experience in adult diagnostic audiology, tinnitus management, vestibular assessment and hearing rehabilitation. Nick graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1999 and has worked across metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania in a wide range of clinical and leadership roles. Nick has a strong professional interest in tinnitus therapy and advanced vestibular testing. In 2020, he established Tasmania’s first vestibular functional testing service, improving the state’s access to objective assessment of dizziness and balance disorders. This service now supports neurologists, ENT specialists, physiotherapists and GPs by helping differentiate between peripheral and central vestibular conditions and guiding tailored rehabilitation options. Nick also provides cochlear implant candidacy assessments across Tasmania and is working toward expanding local implant pathways so Tasmanians can access modern hearing implant solutions closer to home. Known for his calm, analytical approach and commitment to best-practice care, Nick is passionate about ensuring that Tasmanians receive world-class audiological services supported by accurate diagnostics and evidence-based treatment pathways. He has held mentoring and clinical training roles throughout his career and continues to support the professional growth of emerging clinicians. Nick is dedicated to ethical, independent audiology and works to ensure that every patient receives transparent, personalised and well-informed support within a 100% Tasmanian-owned practice.
