Audiology Australia has made a submission to SIRA on the revised Workers compensation guidelines for allied health treatment and hearing service provision. SIRA is the statutory authority responsible for regulating and administering workers compensation, motor accidents compulsory third party insurance and home building compensation insurance in NSW.
Key points in Audiology Australia’s submission to SIRA include:
1. Support for the revised guidelines, including the conditions of approval for hearing service providers and the incorporation of hearing service providers into the list of providers who must be approved under the guidelines; and
2. Concern that the requirement for hearing service providers to be accredited or contracted under the Australian Government’s Hearing Services Program in order to be able to deliver Workers compensation services may place a restriction or barrier on audiologists in NSW.
