Description:
Please join us for this AudA two-day online workshop on Effective Infection Control.
Infection Control is fundamental to best practice in Audiology. It has often been forgotten or ignored, but the pandemic has highlighted the importance of hygiene for all allied health professionals. This 4 hour workshop is not about masks, PPE and COVID19, it is about the principles and practices that should guide your daily work throughout your career. We will begin with the core tenets and an evaluation of risk and then explore how these principles are applied in daily clinical work. There will be opportunities to ask those small, specific questions that are so important for the safety of our clients and time to compare notes with others working in a similar environment. Day 2 will allow you to work with others to develop an Infection Control Manual for your own clinic, detailing the practical steps you need to take each day. We will finish will a closer examination of the special challenges of wax management and a discussion forum about why infection control matters.
Wednesday 26 August - Principles and Practice This workshop will review recent Australian guidelines on infection control and how they are applied in Audiology. The first session will focus on the principles which underpin infection control and explore the concept of risk and risk evaluation. In our second session we will look at the practice of infection control in an audiological setting, the need for clinical protocols and how to set up best practice in your workplace. Both sessions include breakout groups, enabling you to discuss the aspects of infection control that are relevant in your workplace.
Learning Goals 1. Increased understanding of how and why to do a risk assessment 2. Increased appreciation of basic precautions and what is required to meet these precautions 3. A heightened focus on the role of infection control for core audiological practices 4. Improved management of re-useable and disposable items in daily use
