Anthony Cordi profile

Anthony Cordi, Phonak’s Commercial Director, An Audiologist and presenter at the Audiology Australia 2025 Conference.

In anticipation of Phonak’s participation at the Audiology Australia 2025 Conference, we had the chance to interview Commercial Director Anthony Cordi about the company’s new AI-based technology, what he’s looking forward to at the conference, and more.

Audiology Australia Accredited Audiologist Anthony Cordi has been an audiologist for 20 years, with his early career in 2004 focused on delivering hearing services to remote populations in Far North Queensland. Today, he holds management roles across both Phonak and Unitron and has helped to shape the delivery of Phonak Infinio technology across Australia.

Audiology Australia: Hi Anthony, can you provide us with an overview of Phonak’s role and impact on Australian hearing health?

Anthony: At Phonak we believe in a world where there is a solution to every hearing loss and all people can equally enjoy the delight of hearing. By providing industry-leading audiological performance and outstanding patient experience we help people hear the world.

For more than 70 years, Phonak has remained true to our mission by developing state of the art hearing solutions that change Australian’s lives to be active and thrive mentally, socially and emotionally. At Phonak, we believe hearing well is essential to living life to the fullest.

What will be on offer at your booth at this year’s AudA Conference?

At this year’s Audiology Australia Conference, Phonak will be offering delegates the opportunity to experience the exceptional sound quality and comfort of Phonak Infinio.

We will be featuring a sound demonstration of the latest innovation from Phonak, the Audéo Sphere™ Infinio. Going above and beyond any existing hearing aid technology, it is powered by two chips: ERA™, a proprietary ultra-responsive chip, and DEEPSONIC™, the world’s first dedicated AI chip for sound processing inside a hearing aid. It’s 53 times more powerful than current industry chip technology, enabling a deep neural network with 4.5 million neural connections to instantly separate speech from noise from any direction. Thanks to the AI chip, the new Spheric Speech Clarity feature unlocks a level of clean and clear speech far beyond any existing technology, so you can focus on what’s important.

Visit us at the Phonak booth and find out more about Audéo Infinio, it does more than just provide exceptional sound quality. It unlocks a world of possibilities.

Diane Rafter from Phonak is presenting on Wednesday 2 April at 12.15pm. Can you tell us about her presentation?

Dianne Rafter’s presentation explores AI’s transformative role in hearing healthcare. While AI is advancing rapidly, many professionals lack awareness of its potential, risks, and impact. Drawing on her research, she developed the EDT Adoption Canvas, a framework to enhance AI literacy and adoption. With 24 years in hearing healthcare and a master’s in technological futures, she emphasizes hands-on experience with AI as essential for understanding its implications. Her session will challenge attendees to proactively shape AI-driven change, ensuring patient-centric, ethical integration of technology. “AI is here—how do we lead change rather than be led by it?”

Why is the Audiology Australia Conference so important for the sector?

The Audiology Australia Conference is a wonderful opportunity for the Audiology community to come together and teach, listen and learn to provide better audiological services to the community. The conference program is designed to inspire collaboration and knowledge sharing. There is always something for all members, at all stages of their careers. The conference is a great way for Audiologists to stay in touch with industry changes, best practices and innovations.

Overall, what are you hoping that attendees will take away from Phonak’s presence at the conference?

AI is significantly transforming the hearing healthcare field in several ways, enhancing both diagnosis and treatment for individuals with hearing loss or related conditions. Phonak is proud to offer the most ground-breaking AI technology in our hearing instruments and we are looking forward to more patients experiencing AI to improve their hearing and ultimately their lives. I’m hoping that all delegates visit us at the Phonak booth and listen to Audéo Infinio Sphere in action to truly experience the benefits of our latest technology.

What are you personally looking forward to at the conference?

I’m looking forward to catching up with old friends and colleagues. I’m also looking forward to hearing about the new audiological research, technological and clinical advancements. Lastly, I’m looking forward to the gala dinner which promises to be a fun night for all.
