This National NAIDOC Week (5–12 July), Audiology Australia (AudA) is delighted to share that we have published a new webpage designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are considering a career in audiology.

The webpage explains why many people choose a career in audiology, the degree options across Australia, the process of becoming an AudA Accredited Audiologist®, and the support available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples both while studying and as an AudA member.

The webpage was developed in collaboration with members of the Council of Deans (representatives from the seven Australian universities offering accredited audiology master degrees), the AudA Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, and the First Nations Audiologists and Students Network.

As outlined in the webpage, AudA can share that we have recently helped to facilitate the creation of the online First Nations Audiologists and Students Network. The group is run by First Nations audiologists, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiologists and students. If you are interested in a career in audiology and think you could benefit from speaking with the network, please contact us today so we can put you in touch.

About NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC Week provides a moment for all Australians to celebrate and recognise the positive contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made to their communities and our country. This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is ‘Fifty Years of Deadly’. AudA encourages all members to take part in the celebration by joining a local NAIDOC Week event in their area, which can be found on the NAIDOC Week website.
