Submission to NTC on the updated draft Assessing Fitness to Drive Guidelines

Audiology Australia has provided a submission response to the National Transport Commission on its updated draft AFTD guidelines. The AFTD guidelines are expected to be finalised and released this year.

Recognition of NDIS worker screening clearances in the aged care sector

Registered NDIS providers can now accept NDIS worker screening clearance for workers in high assessed roles that support NDIS participants.

Australian Digital Health Agency seeking information on diagnostic audiology reports

The Australian Digital Health Agency is developing a diagnostic reporting specification for the electronic exchange of diagnostic reports and would welcome feedback on best practice reporting from Audiology Australia members.

Summary of the NDIS Quarterly Report March 2021

On 31 March 2021, the National Disability Insurance Agency Board released the NDIS Quarterly Report to disability ministers. AudA has provided a summary of the key statistics published in the NDIS Quarterly Report in regard to participants with hearing impairment and registration groups for hearing providers.

Review of the Hearing Services Program

The Expert Panel reviewing the Hearing Services Program has released their Draft Report.

Electronic claiming for audiology services

Audiology Australia is pleased to announce that HICAPS, in conjunction with a range of participating health funds, will now offer electronic claiming for audiology services.

Federal Budget Overview

The Federal Budget was handed down on Tuesday and included measures including the Hearing Services Online Portal, telehealth and new MBS items.

National Transport Commission Assessing Fitness to Drive Review

The National Transport Commission is reviewing the Assessing Fitness to Drive. Interested members are invited to provide feedback in relation to hearing loss.

MBS telehealth items extended through 2021

The Australian Government has extended the use of COVID-19 MBS telehealth items to the end of the year. Audiology Australia has provided an overview and fact sheet for members about the changes.
