Ability Hearing & Balance is a 100% independent Tasmanian-owned audiology clinic providing comprehensive hearing and balance services across Hobart, Kingston, Rosny Park, Glenorchy, Launceston and Burnie. As an independent practice, our recommendations are always patient-led and based on clinical need, not sales targets or manufacturer ownership. We offer access to all leading hearing aid brands and are committed to transparent, ethical and evidence-based care. Our services include adult diagnostic hearing assessments, paediatric hearing testing, auditory processing evaluations, tinnitus assessment and management, vestibular and dizziness testing, earwax microsuction, hearing aid fittings and rehabilitation, as well as cochlear implant candidacy assessments. We support patients with hearing loss, tinnitus, balance concerns, communication difficulties, educational challenges and long-term hearing health needs. Our team includes experienced audiologists and emerging clinicians who value thorough testing, clear communication and personalised treatment pathways. We work closely with GPs, ENTs, neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists and schools to support coordinated care for both adults and children. Ability Hearing & Balance is founded on the belief that Tasmanians deserve world-class audiology delivered locally, with integrity, compassion and clinical excellence. We take the time to understand each patient’s goals, lifestyle and concerns, offering individualised solutions that are practical, effective and grounded in best-practice audiology.
Dr Heidi Modrovich, AuD. is the Principal Audiologist and CEO of Ability Hearing and Balance, bringing close to 25 years of experience in adult diagnostic audiology, auditory processing assessment, tinnitus management, hearing rehabilitation and independent private practice leadership. Heidi holds a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) from A.T. Still University in Arizona, where she was awarded the Professional Leadership Award in recognition of her contribution to the profession, community engagement and exemplary leadership. She also holds an MBA from the University of Tasmania, graduating as the W.O. McCarthy Medallist for academic excellence. Earlier in her career, Heidi worked as the Audiological Product and Sales Specialist for Oticon Australia across Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania, delivering national clinical training, product education and business support to hearing clinics across the country. Heidi is the Vice President of Independent Audiologists Australia and is strongly committed to protecting independent, patient-first audiology. She is actively involved in professional governance and health system improvement through her membership on the Tasmanian Health Senate and the Allied Health Network Advisory Group. Heidi is also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Strategic Psychotherapist and NLP mindset coach, with a special interest in tinnitus distress management and patient-centred counselling.
